How To Take Apart A Trampoline

Blog 2500

To take apart a trampoline, first remove the safety net and protective pad. Then there is the removal of the spring – this step is very critical, please be sure to use the spring hook, and strictly follow the “cross” or diagonal mode of operation to maintain uniform force. Finally, loosen the bolts or connectors and disassemble the frame.

In the process, wear gloves all the way, put the removed hardware into a labeled bag immediately, and check whether the parts are worn while disassembling. If you can still find the instructions of the year, it is best to keep them at hand, which can save a lot of trouble.

Below, we will go through each step in detail to ensure that you can complete the disassembly correctly.

Step 1: Site Preparation And Accessory Removal

Before loosening even one screw, you have to clean the work area and remove those soft components. This step is not only for the convenience of work, but also for safety.

Clean Up The Perimeter

This is often overlooked. Make sure the trampoline is parked on level ground, then walk in circles around the trampoline, especially the bottom—to clean up any debris, gardening tools or toys left by children below. When you are moving with a heavy metal shelf in your hand, it is very dangerous to have a stumbling block under your feet.

Disassemble the trampoline.

Remove The Safety Net And Column

If your trampoline has a protective net, this is the first one to be removed. Unlock the buckle connected with the frame at the bottom first, and then remove the net from the top of the column. Next, the vertical column is removed from the main frame. If the column is segmented (upper and lower), it is recommended to disassemble it now, which saves space when stored.

Remove The Safety Pad

Locate the colored foam loop that covers the spring. Untie the straps or clips tied to the frame at the bottom. After removing it, fold it neatly and set it aside. After this step is completed, the spring will be completely exposed and we can proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Remove The Spring And Jump Pad

This is to learn how to dismantle the trampoline in the process of the most physical, but also the most physical needs of the link. Remember, these springs are under high tension and safety must come first.

Use A Spring Hook

Your trampoline should be bought with a T-shaped spring hook. Hook the tool to the frame side of the spring hook and pull it firmly towards you until it falls off. In case you lose this tool (which often happens), find a sturdy heavy-duty hanger and bend it into a hook shape to make do with it.

This video demonstrates how to safely remove trampoline springs:

The “Cross-Pattern” Method Must Be Used

Never disassemble the springs one by one in the clockwise direction. Doing so will cause the remaining spring and frame to be subjected to extremely uneven tension, and the spring may break and fly out, or even cause the frame to deform. Please use the “clock method”: first remove the 12 o’clock direction, then remove the 6 o’clock direction, then the 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock direction. By analogy, this pattern of alternating diagonals is maintained until the tension is safely released.

Storage Jump Mat

When all the springs are removed and safely put away, the jump mat will loosen up. Take it off the frame. When folded, like a sleeping bag, roll it as tightly as possible to ensure that it takes up minimal storage space.

Step 3: Disassemble The Metal Frame

After the tension is released, all that is left is the metal skeleton of the trampoline.

Reverse Disassembly

First separate the circular ring from the leg. Depending on your specific model, these ring pieces may be sleeved together or fixed with screws.

Prepare Tools

You will most likely need a wrench, socket set, or screwdriver to loosen the bolts that connect the legs to the frame. Keep these tools at hand.

Careful Leg Assembly

Remove the U-legs one by one. Here’s a rule of thumb: when you remove the vertical leg pieces from the ring, the frame will instantly lose its stability. At this time, it is best to find someone to help you stabilize the shelf, otherwise it is easy to hit your feet.

Dealing With Stuck Parts

If this trampoline has been exposed to wind and rain outdoors for several years, it is common for some interfaces to rust and get stuck. Spray point WD-40 at the stubborn joint and let it penetrate for a few minutes. If you still can’t pull it out, gently tap it with a rubber mallet to loosen it. Try not to use a metal hammer, it is easy to knock the nozzle flat.

Step 4: Organize And Store For Future Use

Whether it’s relaxing or burning out when you reassemble next year depends entirely on how you organize these parts now.

Everything Should Be Labeled

Remove the screws, bolts and nuts, please put them in a sealed plastic bag immediately. Then write clearly on the bag with a marker (e. g. “leg bolt”, “seine buckle”).

Keep The Instructions

If the instructions are still there, put it and the hardware in a bag. If you lost it earlier, I suggest you download the PDF version from the official website and store it in your mobile phone before packing, so as not to be blind when packing next time.

Dry Storage

Rust is the biggest enemy of trampoline. Ensure that springs, metal frames, and hardware are stored in a dry place, such as a garage, shed, or basement. As for the jumping mat and purse seine, you must make sure that they are completely dry before folding, otherwise when you open it next time, it may be covered with mold, and it will be useless.

As long as you follow these steps, you can protect both your equipment and yourself, ensuring that your equipment is still in its best condition when the next jumping season comes.
